PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adapting frequency conversion of block coding on the basis of a size of a sub-block and an intra-prediction mode.SOLUTION: An apparatus for encoding video data includes a video encoder configured to select an intra-prediction mode to be used for encoding a block of video data, determine whether the block includes sub-blocks in a size capable of a plurality of transforms on the basis of the size of sub-blocks and the selected intra-prediction mode, select one of the plurality of possible transforms, in the case where the block includes the sub-blocks in the size capable of the plurality of transforms, on the basis of the size of sub-blocks and the selected intra-prediction mode, transform the sub-blocks using selected one of the plurality of transforms, and instruct selected one of the plurality of possible transforms for a size of the block. |
