<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mattress and a switching valve failure detection method for the same, allowing early detection of the failure of a switching valve by use of a pressure sensor used for the pressure detection of cells. <P>SOLUTION: The pressure sensor 150 is a function part for detecting the pressure of each cell, and comprises pressure sensors or the like. A state detection part 110 is a function part for detecting various kinds of states in a bed device 1. For example, the state detection part 110 detects a state by detecting the states of the pressure sensors and detecting the operation signal of an actuator. The state detection part 110 achieves the function of a failure detection part detecting the failure of a switching valve by obtaining pressure increase values per unit time in the internal pressures of the cells from the detection value of the pressure sensor 150 and comparing the pressure increase values and a failure threshold value.
