<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure having comparatively better strength even in the direction almost perpendicular to the longitudinal direction thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure has a honeycomb unit which includes an inorganic particle and in which a plurality of cells each extending from the first end face thereof to the second end face along the longitudinal direction thereof are divided from one another by cell walls.
