<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black polyester film for a solar cell backside sealing material, excellent in ultraviolet light resistance and hydrolysis resistance and good in partial discharge voltage. <P>SOLUTION: In a polyester film for a solar cell backside sealing material, at least one of the outermost layer of the polyester film is a polyester layer (A) containing 0.7-3.0% by weight of a black pigment and having a limiting viscosity (IV_A) of 0.66 dl/g or more and a terminal carboxyl group amount (AV_A) of 26 eq/t or less.
