PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selection/removal system of tobacco raw material, capable of efficiently performing the selection/removal of defective tobacco raw material from tobacco raw material; and a selection/removal method thereof.SOLUTION: The selection/removal system of tobacco raw material includes: primary and secondary pneumatic separation units (10 and 12) for the selection/separation of shredded tobacco as tobacco raw material into non-defective shredded products and defective shredded products; and a reproduction unit (14) disposed between the pneumatic separation units (10 and 12) for reproduction treatment of the defective shredded products. The reproduction unit (14) performs re-shredding and tangle releasing as reproduction treatment of the defective shredded products from the primary pneumatic separation unit (10), so that the defective shredded products are reproduced as reproduced shredded products. The secondary pneumatic separation unit (12) performs the selection/separation of the reproduced shredded products as shredded tobacco into non-defective shredded products and defective shredded products, and the defective shredded products here are products to be removed.
