摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multilevel optical signal transmission method, transmitter, receiver, and a multilevel optical signal transmission system which allow for enhancement in the reception quality of a complex optical modulation signal, by reducing the inter-axes signal strength difference between the I signal and Q signal of the complex optical modulation signal, while suppressing cost increase.SOLUTION: The detection function of inter-axes signal strength difference is arranged in the receiver of a PON system, the correction function of inter-axes signal strength difference is arranged in the transmitter of a PON system, and the transmitter and receiver reduce the inter-axes signal strength difference in cooperation. In other words, a conventional receiver compensates phase rotation and inter-axes signal strength difference collectively, but the inventive receiver detects phase compensation and inter-axes signal strength difference, the transmitter corrects the inter-axes signal strength difference.
