<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal having a main battery and a sub battery, capable of reducing malfunctions resulting from abnormality or degradation of the sub battery. <P>SOLUTION: A portable terminal includes a sub battery 40 that can supply electric components with electric power when a main batter 30 is removed from a device body. When the diagnosis time for the sub battery 40 is determined to be due on the basis of at least one of user's prescribed operation, preset temporal condition, or the detected charging condition of the main battery 30, the portable terminal diagnoses the condition of the sub battery 40.
