<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light quantity adjustment device able to use an infrared ray cutoff filter highly reliably as required without increasing its thickness. <P>SOLUTION: The light quantity adjustment device comprises: a light quantity adjustment mechanism that adjusts a quantity of passing light by changing the area of an aperture; and a filter switching mechanism that moves an infrared ray cutoff filter 43 to the aperture position of the light quantity adjustment mechanism and separates the infrared ray cutoff filter from the aperture position.
