摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for vehicles and an image processing method for vehicles in which a possibility of collision with a target is determined while considering influences caused by curving and vibration of a present vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In an image processing apparatus for vehicles, a camera 11 images the periphery of a vehicle. A motion vector calculation section 21 determines a motion vector among a plurality of images captured by the camera 11. A scale-factored translational component calculation section 23 calculates a scale-factored translation component on the basis of a motion vector corresponding to a target included in the image and a rotational component of the vehicle. A z-position acquisition section 26 acquires an optical-axis direction coordinate value of the target in a camera coordinate system. A collision determination section 25 determines whether a closest distance from a center of the camera 11 to the target is shorter than or equal to a predetermined distance on the basis of an expression representing a distance from the center of the camera 11 to the target as a function of time.
