PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device which allows for erasing previously entered information such as characters.SOLUTION: An input device includes: a square sheet-like optical waveguide W comprising grid-like cores 2 sandwiched between a square sheet-like under-cladding layer 1 and over-cladding layer 3; a light emitting element 4 connected to one end face of each core 2 of the optical waveguide W; and a photosensitive element 5 connected to the other end face of each core 2. A surface area of the over-cladding layer 3 corresponding to an area occupied by the grid-like cores 2 is used as an input area. When the input area is depressed by an inputting tip of an input tool or an erasing tip of an erasing tool having different thickness, information entered and information to be erased are distinguished from each other by the thickness. Previously entered information residing at points depressed by the erasing tip of the erasing tool in the input area is recognized as information to be erased and is erased. |
