PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition having excellent solvent resistance and light fastness, and a pattern formation method, a color filter producing method, a color filter, a solid-state imaging element, and an image display device which use the coloring composition, and a method for producing the coloring composition.SOLUTION: A coloring composition includes a polymerizable compound, and a pigment multimer having a pigment structure and a group represented by formula below at a main chain terminal thereof. In general formula (I), Z represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent; * represents the position of bonding with the main chain terminal. In general formula (II), A and B each independently represent a monovalent substituent; A and B may be linked to each other and form a ring; * represents the position of bonding with the main chain terminal.
