<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical output apparatus capable of outputting light with an amount corresponding to a desired light reduction ratio, irrespective of variations in the direction of polarization by a laser element in a light source unit.SOLUTION: In an optical output apparatus 10, a laser beam L1 with a fixed polarization direction is emitted from a light source having a laser element 11. First polarization means transmits light with a polarization direction substantially identical to that of the laser beam L1 emitted from the laser element 11. Input power to the laser element 11 is controlled such that the amount of light transmitted through the first polarization means 12 becomes a predetermined amount. The light transmitted through the first polarization means 12 is incident to second polarization means 14. The second polarization means 14 is rotated in accordance with a desired light reduction amount and outputs light with an amount corresponding to a rotation angle. Consequently, a laser beam with a desired amount may be emitted even if polarization directions of the laser beams outputted from the laser element vary.</p> |
