The cross-section of a ski (1) has above and below the ski core (10) both in the direction to the surface lining (5) and to the running surface (6) two sandwich laminates (11,12). Each of the latter consists of a laminate core (15,20) which is flanked by cover layers (13,14;19,21). The deformation resistance of the cores (15,20) should be less than that of one of the flanking cover layers (13,14,19,21). The preferred material for the cores is a soft foam of PE or PU or inserted strips of polystyrene. The cover layers are made of a lattice, a woven structure or a mat of fibres of carbon, KEVLAR (RTM), glass, ceramics, etc., impregnated with adhesive resin of powdery, pasty or liquid consistency. ADVANTAGE - This keeps a constant deformation resistance over a wide range of temperatures, achieves a better stress distribution and an optimum stress curve for flexures.
