<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for decomposing a cellulose-based material, producing a cellulose derivative from the cellulose-based material and pre-treating the cellulose-based material for enzymatic saccharification. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose-based material can be decomposed as well as the cellulose derivative such as glucose can be produced by a simple means for radiating micro waves to a mixture containing the cellulose-based material, a poly acid and an aqueous medium.
