<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a redox flow cell capable of producing high electromotive force. <P>SOLUTION: A redox flow cell 1 performs charging/discharging operation by supplying a battery element 100c containing a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a barrier membrane 101 with a positive electrode electrolyte in a positive electrode tank 106 and a negative electrode electrolyte in a negative electrode tank 107. The positive and negative electrode electrolytes contain a manganese ion and a titanium ion as a metal ion species common to both. The redox flow cell 1 includes a communication tube 10 for communicating the liquid phase in the positive electrode tank 106 and that in the negative electrode tank 107. Since the one end of the communication tube 10 has an opening closer to the liquid level of the positive electrode electrolyte in the positive electrode tank 106, it is possible to blend a negative electrode electrolyte into a positive electrode electrolyte having relatively more discharging state manganese ions when mixing the electrolytes of both electrodes. Consequently, the redox flow cell 1 can reduce the power loss resulting from a self-discharge when mixing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
