PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical adapter capable of blocking an invalid signal which is generated by influence externally exerted upon optical fibers and/or the optical adapter and transmitted in the reverse direction. ! SOLUTION: An optical adapter for connecting two optical plugs 400 comprises a housing 100 provided with insertion ports 102 in which to insert the optical plugs 400 respectively. Inside the housing 100, the optical adapter further comprises a light emitting/receiving element 202 as a unidirectional transmission member for transmitting light in only one direction at a position that faces an end of each of the optical plugs 400 when the optical plugs 400 are inserted, thereby enabling a transmission direction of an optical signal to be restricted to a single direction. !
