PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave detector capable of obtaining a higher light-condensing effect than an optical lens, inexpensively.SOLUTION: In an electromagnetic wave detector, an electromagnetic wave is made incident on a waveguide member and is condensed on an electromagnetic wave detection part provided on a substrate by the waveguide member to detect the electromagnetic wave. The waveguide member includes: a main body provided in close contact with the substrate; a V groove which is formed on the main body and has at least a surface made of a metal which propagates the electromagnetic wave to cause surface plasmon coupling between the metal itself and the electromagnetic wave; and an outlet which is formed at a top of the V groove and has a breadthwise dimension equal to or shorter than a wavelength of the electromagnetic wave. An oscillation direction of an electric field of electromagnetic wave emitted from the outlet is caused to coincide with an oscillation direction of an electric field of electromagnetic wave capable of being detected by the electromagnetic detector.
