PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decoding videos using a conversion index indicating a structure of a conversion unit performing conversion of a current coding unit.SOLUTION: A decoding method includes the steps of: receiving a bit stream of an encoded video by a decoding device; determining a maximum encoding unit on the basis of the maximum size of the encoding unit; determining one or more encoding units for dividing the maximum encoding unit by using division information obtained from the bit stream; obtaining, from the bit stream, conversion index information indicating the propriety of division of a conversion unit at the current level included in a current encoding unit; dividing, when the conversion index information indicates the division of the conversion unit at the current level, the conversion unit at the current level by a conversion unit at a lower level; and performing, when the conversion index information indicates non-division of the conversion unit at the current level, inverse conversion of the conversion unit at the current level to create residual data corresponding to the conversion unit at the current level. |
