PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that show-through and undulation of a sheet occur caused by penetration of ink into the sheet and interfere with formation of a high quality image in an image forming apparatus of an inkjet system and an image forming apparatus of combination of an electrophotographic system and the inkjet system.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is provided that includes an ink jet image forming apparatus and image data area acquiring means for acquiring an ink image data area formed by the inkjet image forming apparatus, and that forms an inkjet image on a surface of a recording material after forming a toner image in an area including an ink image data area with respect to a rear surface of the recording material, thereby preventing show-through of a sheet due to penetration of ink into the sheet. The image forming apparatus further includes recording material fiber direction detection means for detecting the fiber direction of the recording material, and forms the inkjet image by the inkjet image forming apparatus on the surface of the recording material after forming the toner imager by an electrophotographic device in an image area formed in a belt shape in the inverse direction of the recording material fiber direction with respect to the rear surface of the recording material, thereby preventing undulation of the sheet. |
