PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate entering of an assisted character from characters of associated character keys that are displayed when a virtual keyboard is touched.SOLUTION: A character input device 10 includes: a control unit 44 which, when a detection unit 42 detects touch on a virtual keyboard, provides control to display at least one related character key, associated with a character of a character key for entering the character located at a touched position, superimposed on the virtual keyboard and which provides control to display at least one auxiliary key, for modifying notation of or adding a symbol to a character or related character, superimposed on the virtual keyboard; and a character input unit 46 which, when the detection unit detects release of the touch, allows a character corresponding to one key to be entered if a key that was touched immediately before the release is either of a character key and a related character key, and modifies notation of or adds a symbol to a character corresponding to a key if the key that was touched immediately before the release is an auxiliary key. |
