<p>An impurity separation method comprising: mounting an impurity separation device in a molten aluminum alloy, the device being provided with a flow path having a cross-sectional area less than that of the upstream and downstream flow paths of the molten metal, and greater than that of the impurities to be separated out; and passing the molten metal through the flow path formed inside the impurity separation device, whereby the impurities are separated from the molten metal by using the wall surfaces of the impurity separation device. Also, the impurity separation device has a first wall surface and a second wall surface. The first wall surface includes a flow path having a cross-sectional area smaller less than that of the upstream and downstream flow paths of the molten metal, and greater than that of the impurities to be separated out when installed inside the flow path of molten aluminum alloy. The second wall surface is a surface transversely dividing the flow path of the molten metal on the upstream side when installed inside the flow path of the molten metal.</p> |
