PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable power generation without wasting much photovoltaic energy.SOLUTION: A photovoltaic power generation system comprises: a first solar battery cell 101 disposed on the incident side from which sunlight 111 from the sun 110 enters; and a second solar battery cell 102 stacked on the first solar battery cell 101's side opposite to the incident side. The first solar battery cell 101 is constructed by a first semiconductor; and the second solar battery cell 102 is constructed by a second semiconductor whose band-gap energy is larger than that of the first semiconductor. For example, the first semiconductor is silicon and the second semiconductor is a nitride semiconductor. Area of the second solar battery cell 102 is made to be smaller than that of the first solar battery cell 101. The photovoltaic power generation system, additionally, comprises a solar thermal power generation unit 103 for generating power using heat of sunlight 112 penetrating an area of the first solar battery cell 101 which surrounds the second solar battery cell 102. |
