<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface monitoring device which is capable of appropriately monitoring a contamination state of an object surface to be monitored and of informing of a proper timing for maintenance work.SOLUTION: A surface monitoring device 1 for monitoring a contamination state of a surface of a cleaning roller 51 includes light-emitting elements 2A and 2B which emit light toward the surface of the cleaning roller 51, a light receiving element 3 which outputs an electric signal corresponding to the amount of received light, a signal processing unit 4 which processes the signal outputted from the light receiving element 3, a determination processing unit 5 which determines the contamination state of the surface of the cleaning roller 51 on the basis of the signal processed by the signal processing unit 4, and an output unit 6 which outputs a notification signal of the contamination state determined by the determination processing unit 5. The light receiving element 3 is disposed in such a position that it does not receive regularly reflected light SR from the surface of the cleaning roller 51, which results from the light emitted from the light-emitting elements 2A and 2B, but receives irregularly reflected light DR from deposits on the surface of the cleaning roller 51.</p> |
