Disclosed are an automatic exposure pad for a defibrillator and a method for operating the same. The method comprises: a film removing step of removing a protection film of the pad; and an electric signal transferring step of transferring electric signal generated from a defibrillation unit of the defibrillator through a sponge having gel soaked therein and exposed to the outside by removing the protection film. Based on operation of a motor, the protection film can be removed along a perforated line.
