PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device using an image sensor having a plurality of pixels receiving a light flux passing through a pupil area having different imaging optical systems and capable of detecting a focus with high accuracy by a focus detection sequence on the basis of a contrast evaluation value.SOLUTION: The imaging device includes an image sensor having a first pixel receiving a light flux passing through a first pupil partial area of an imaging optical system and a second pixel receiving a light flux passing through the entire pupil area of the imaging optical system. A signal generating part of a focus detection signal generates a first signal from the light receiving signal of the first pixel and generates a second signal from the light receiving signal of the second pixel. A controller adds the first signal and the second signal after shift processing to generate a shift addition signal to a plurality of shift amounts in a second focus detection (S200) following a first focus detection (S100) of a phase difference system, calculates a contrast evaluation value from the size of the generated shift addition signal to acquire a defocus amount and controls the focus operation of the imaging optical system. |
