PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an amount of electric energy input to an ignition plug at a time of spark ignition as close to a required minimum amount of energy for the ignition and combustion of an air-fuel mixture as possible in a spark ignition internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An amount of electric energy input to an ignition plug for producing spark discharge is determined by adding an addition/subtraction amount set in response to an element indicating a situation of an internal combustion engine to base ignition energy set in response to a current operating region of the internal combustion engine, and the amount of electric energy input to the ignition plug is determined by adding the largest addition/subtraction amount out of a plurality of addition/subtraction amounts corresponding to respective elements indicating the situation of the internal combustion engine to base ignition energy. |
