The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for detecting a faint situation based on motion tracking with a thermal image camera capable of continuous tracking and accurate detecting of a faint situation. The present invention includes the following steps: extracting an object by using a difference between two consecutive image frames; detecting and tracking the object by continuously using a CamShift algorithm and a Kalman filter; detecting a faint situation based on the analysis on changes in the size and the time of the tracked orbit; and outputting information for notifying that a faint situation has occurred.
