<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which forms an image by use of different image forming speeds according to differences of recording sheets, while reducing time and effort of a user and processing time required for gray level correction.SOLUTION: Image forming means forms an image pattern at a first image forming speed on an image carrier. Transfer means forms a density measurement image on a recording sheet by transferring the image pattern at the first image forming speed to the recording sheet. Determination means reads the image to determine density correction characteristics. Measurement means applies the density correction characteristics to measure a density value of the image pattern formed at the first image forming speed on the image carrier. Storage means stores the measured density value of the image pattern as a reference density value. Creation means applies the density correction characteristics to create correction data for correcting the density correction characteristics for a second image forming speed on the basis of a difference between the density value of the image pattern formed at the second image forming speed on the image carrier and the reference density value stored in the storage means.</p> |
