1. A method, comprising:
operating an engine to produce an exhaust gas having a NO constituent, the engine operationally coupled to an exhaust system for receiving the exhaust gas, the exhaust system including an exhaust aftertreatment system that includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) component disposed in the exhaust gas flow; interpreting a sulfur value of the SCR component; determining whether the sulfur value exceeds a sulfur regeneration threshold; determining an engine NO amount increase incident to the SCR component in response to the sulfur value being greater than the sulfur regeneration threshold; and increasing an NO amount delivered into the exhaust system based on the engine NO amount increase. |
