Adjusting device on a flap (6) which can be pivoted from the rear into a closed position in front of a passage opening (4) in a rear seat or a rear-seat bench of a motor vehicle, or in a partition (3) arranged behind the rear seat, in which closed position the flap (6) is held by a retaining device, which can be released from the passenger compartment, and is loaded into an open position by a spring. Arranged on the edge region of the passage opening, or on a supporting element (receiving container 13), supported or fastened thereon is an adjustable handle (9) which at least after removing or adjusting a rear-seat cushion part can be operated from the passenger compartment. The handle (9) is connected to the flap (6) via at least one power-transmission element (cable 8) which engages with an articulation point (12) of the flap (6) at a distance from the pivoting axis (transverse axis 5) of the flap. <IMAGE>
