The invention relates to a switchgear partial discharge testing device for detecting partial discharge in a substation. The device comprises a housing 10, a sensor module 20 and an analysis module 30, the sensor module being configured to detect electromagnetic and ultrasonic emission signals and the analysis module being configured to receive the signals and identify potential partial discharges. The sensor module and the analysis module are provided as part of the device, the housing comprising a main body 12 and a handle 13 configured to be held in one hand of a user. The housing further comprises a synchronisation module 40 adapted to identify a background oscillating electromagnetic field induced in said user and generate a synchronisation signal for use in the analysis module. The synchronisation module may comprise a contact 41 located in the handle. |
