PURPOSE:To obtain a new substance derived from a fungus useful for protecting various kinds of industrial products from deterioration and as an additive for cosmetics, having excellent near ultraviolet region absorbing ability. CONSTITUTION:FK17-P2a, FK17-P2b1, FK17-P2b2 or FK17-P3 of formula I to formula IV. The compound of formula I has the following physical and chemical properties. Properties: light yellow. Molecular weight: 252. Molecular formula: C13H16O5. Mass spectrometric analytical value (FABNMS): 253(M+1)<+>. Ultraviolet and visible absorption spectrum (in MeOH): lambdaMAX=294nm, epsilon=7,800. Specific rotatory power [d]D<26>: +22 deg. (C 0.10, MeOH). Solubility: soluble in MeOH, EtOH, acetone, EtOAC and CHCl3, slightly water-soluble, etc. The compounds of the formulae are obtained by putting strain of Aspergillus versicolor FK-17 in a liquid medium of seaweed drink and culturing at pH 4.0-5.5 at 30-35 deg.C for 7 days. |
