<p>PURPOSE:To more effectively make use of gas produced by the inflator of the air bag. CONSTITUTION:An opening 2 is provided for the rear section of the air bag 1, and vent holes 5 are also provided for its side faces. Each cover piece 4a composed of a cloth piece covering the vent hole 5 is sewn together with the air bag with a thread 6. The cover pieces 4a covering the respective vent holes 5 are connected to a connecting piece. Under a condition where the air bag is fully developed, the connecting piece is tightly stretched. By this constitution, each vent hole 5 is kept closed until the air bag 1 is fully developed, the air bag 1 is thereby quickly developed. When gas within the air bag 1 becomes higher in pressure than a specified pressure, the thread 6 is broken, gas within the air bag 1 is conditioned to be capable of flowing outside, impact against an occupant can thereby be absorbed.</p> |
