<p>PURPOSE:To produce large flocs in sludge and to promote sedimentation of the flocs in a biochemical treatment of waste water by adding a saponin-contg. agent and humus to the process. CONSTITUTION:A saponin-contg. agent and humus are added in the process to biochemically treat waste water. This treatment method of waste water includes standard activated sludge process as well as contact oxidation method and denitrification activated sludge process. Saponin is a kind of glycoside contained in plants, and especially, quillaia saponin extracted form Quillaia saponaria Molina which grows wild in South America is preferable. The add amt. of the saponin-contg. agent is about 0.02-0.4ppm expressed in terms of a refined material based on the waste water. The is also called as a humic substance to humin substance and is classified into humic acid, fulvic acid, and humin according to the solubility in acid and alkali. The amt. thereof used is about 0.1% of the volume of the aeration tank. Without replenishing the humus good sedimentation of sludge is maintained of about 6 months.</p> |
