Rock bolt for reinforcing and/or anchoring into rock or concrete material which is subjected to movement and likely to crack, comprises the following parts: (A) inner section secured into a hole passing through the actual material and held in place by curable material poured into the hole; (B) exposed middle section of the bolt free to move in relation to the rock material when subjected to a load in the length direction of the bolt; and (C) end section located outside the hole entrance with a support which can be positioned against the rock material. Both bolt end sections are estimated to have a tensile strength greater than that of the middle section. The method of setting up the appts. and a rock bolt used for this method are also claimed.
