Infrastructure for control system distributed object manager components

The infrastructure (2) contains a number of distributed object manager components (4,...16), for a control system with monitoring devices and data processing units at a number of spaced monitoring points within the controlled plant. The operative object manager components are in mutual contact with one another, using a common algorithm for determining the communication partners. Pref. the locally installed object managers (20,..30) of the object manager components are started in accordance with a priority list, with their availability for use as a server for client-server communication identified.
