TURBOFAN THRUST REVERSER SYSTEM

A gas turbine engine (310) comprises a core engine (312), a fan (316), a bypass duct and a clutch (314). The fan (316) is driven by a free turbine (318) aerodynamically powered by the core engine (312). The bypass duct is configured to receive airflow from the fan (316). The clutch (314) links the core engine (312) and the fan (316). The core comprises a reverse-flow, two-spool gas generator. The clutch (314) includes reverse gearing to reverse rotational output of the fan (316). The clutch (314) and reverse gearing may be implemented in an epicyclic gear system.
