<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the deterioration of projected picture quality by using a dichronic mirror as a color synthesizing part for synthesizing two colors and a dichroic prism as a color synthesizing part for synthesizing three colors. SOLUTION: Out of light emitted from a light source 1, red light is reflected by a red reflection dichroic mirror 2 and the light of other color is transmitted therethrough. Out of the transmitted light, green light is reflected by a blue transmission dichroic mirror 4 and blue light is transmitted therethrough. The reflected green light is made incident on a green liquid crystal light valve 5 and the transmitted blue light is made incident on a blue liquid crystal light valve 7. The blue light optically modulated by the light valve 7 is reflected by a reflection mirror 8 and made incident on a blue transmission dichroic prism 27, the green light optically modulated by the light valve 5 is made incident on a red transmission dichroic mirror 9 and the red light optically modulated by a red light valve 6 is made incident on the mirror 9, then enlarged and projected by a projection lens 11.</p> |
