TRANSMISSION RATE DECISION METHOD, ITS DEVICE AND RECEIVER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately decide an actual transmission rate for received communication independently of a relative possible transmission rate by deciding an actual transmission rate from one or more object transmission rates. SOLUTION: A 1st transmission rate discrimination means 104 is composed of a threshold level discrimination means 103. The threshold level decision means 103 receives final path metric signals 113-116 from a Viterbi decoding means and executes initial decision of reliability of decoding result at each transmission rate. The threshold level discrimination means 103 receives threshold levels 117-129 to decide the reliability of the decoded result at each transmission rate. The threshold level discrimination means 103 provides threshold level discrimination signals 121-124 as the result of comparison of the threshold levels 117-129 with final path metric values represented by the signals 113-116 as to each transmission rate. The signals in each case denote it whether or not the threshold level is exceeded as to the specific transmission rate to be checked.
