PURPOSE:To provide a mold level gauge adapted for continuous casting and having no response delay and no measuring error. CONSTITUTION:Two ultrasonic wave sensors 2A, 2B, which comprise ultrasonic wave transceivers 1A, 1B built into heat resistant holders 6A, 6B each of which has an opening provided on its front side, with ultrasonic wave refracting mirrors 5A, 5B provided diagonally downwards on the front side of the opening, are arranged parallel to each other, one for measuring the level of molten iron and the other for measuring the level of the upper side of a mold 7, and the level of molten iron in the mold 7 is calculated using a temperature correction factor which is calculated from the difference between distances measured by these two ultrasonic wave sensors 2A, 2B, the known distance to the upper side of the mold 7 at room temperature, and the known actual distance to the upper side. |
