A method for providing a therapeutic agent to a subject comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a carrier-linked magnetic nanoparticle containing a therapeutic agent and a targeting moiety attached to the carrier-linked magnetic nanoparticle, wherein the carrier is a liposome and the therapeutic agent is encapsulated within the carrier-linked magnetic nanoparticle, and wherein the application of an alternating magnetic field to the subject causes liposomes bound to a target cell in the subject to rupture and release therapeutic agent, while unbound liposomes remain intact, thereby providing the therapeutic agent to the subject. |
