发明名称 Systems and methods for optimizing and maintaining visualization of a surgical field during the use of surgical scopes
摘要 A view optimizing assembly, method and kit for use in combination with a laparoscope having a lens located on the shaft tip of the laparoscope, and a source of insufflation CO2. The invention includes a multi-lumen sheath assembly, a deflector assembly in fluid communication with the lumens of the sheath assembly, wherein the flow of CO2 through the lumens forms a vortex when coming into contact with the deflector assembly, thereby preventing fogging of the laparoscope lens.

主权项 1. A view optimizing assembly for use in combination with a laparoscope and a source of gas, the assembly comprising: a sheath having a proximal end and a distal end extending along a sheath axis, wherein the sheath is configured to be mounted over a shaft of the laparoscope and includes a first lumen and a second lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end; a tubing set connecting the first and second lumens of the sheath to the source of gas; a deflector assembly attached to a distal end of the sheath and in communication with the first and second lumens; wherein a proximal-most portion of an outer wall of the sheath is trimmed relative to a proximal-most portion of an inner wall of the sheath such that a plenum forms around the proximal-most portion of the inner wall when air is supplied from the source of gas to the sheath, the plenum controlling the velocity of gas entering the first lumen and the velocity of gas entering the second lumen, wherein the first and second lumens are configured such that, when gas is provided from the tubing set, a velocity of gas through the first lumen is greater than a velocity of gas through the second lumen such that gas from the first and second lumens flows across the deflector assembly and combines to form a single vortex at the distal end of the sheath that spirals about a vortex axis to keep debris off of a lens of the laparoscope.
