A Next Generation Data Network is described. It leverages the “cloud” for data management, low frequency data computation and analytics. The wireless network is a single frequency network that permits limited non-line of sight operation. The wireless network using packet switched beams, the beams are formed and switched electronically. It utilizes advanced signal processing to compensate for low transmit signal power and multipath reflections that can be frequency or flat fades. |

1. A method for data communication by a node of a multi-hop wireless data network, comprising:
characterizing, aided by a controller, radio frequency (RF) links between the node and a plurality of neighboring nodes; receiving from the controller, responsive to characterized data on the RF links, parameters for routing a data packet from the node to a destination node through one or more alternate routing paths in one or more hops across the wireless data network, wherein said parameters include a ranking of the one or more alternate routing paths to prioritize a selection of a routing path by the node, wherein the ranking is based on a predicted probability of delivery of the data packet through the one or more alternate routing paths; routing the data packet from the node to the destination node through one or more of the alternate routing paths using the parameters; and collecting statistics on deliveries of a plurality of data packets from the node to the destination node. |
