PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electronic musical instrument capable of achieving a desired blowing performance closer to a natural musical instrument concerning a sound production control technique; a method for controlling sound production; and a program.SOLUTION: The electronic musical instrument comprises: blowing performance digitizing means 301 for digitally sampling a blowing performance by a player 306; a pattern recognition part 302 for recognizing a finite number of patterns from each sensor value outputted by the blowing performance digitizing means 301; a presentation part 303 for presenting a distance between the recognized patterns to the player 306; a physical model part 304 for forming signals transiting between the patterns recognized by the pattern recognition part 302; and a sound source part 305 for composing a tone by above mentioned each signal.
