PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper currency handling device capable of easily removing paper currencies stuck at a connection conveyance part even when a safe wall is thick.SOLUTION: The paper currency handling device mounted on an automatic teller machine includes: a cashbox formed of a metal housing; an upper unit which is disposed outside of the cashbox and has a reception port for receiving paper currencies fed thereto or to be paid out therethrough; a lower unit which is disposed inside the cashbox and has a paper currency storage for storing paper currencies; and a conveyance path through which the paper currencies are conveyed. The conveyance path penetrates an opening of the cashbox and has a connection conveyance part which retracts outside or inside the cashbox.
