ABUTTED-TYPE EXPANSION/CONTRACTION DEVICE FOR ROAD BRIDGE, AND CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR METHODS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abutted-type expansion/contraction device suited for a road bridge with a small expansion/contraction amount.SOLUTION: An abutted-type expansion/contraction device for a road bridge comprises: a pair of expansion/contraction joints (J1) (J2) that almost form an L-shape overall with face plates (2a) (2b) erected to face each other on both sides of a joint of a road bridge and having a height (H) corresponding to a thickness (T) of an asphalt pavement (A), and flat base plates (3a) (3b) that integrally extend toward rear directions that are separated from each other, from a bottom edge of the erected face plates; and an elastic water-stop layer (8) filled and fixed between the erected face plates in front and rear that face each other of the two expansion/contraction joints. The base plates of the two expansion/contraction joints are fitted and fixed on a surface of a bridge abutment (22) and a bridge girder (1), or of bridge girders, with a hanging elastic water-stop sheet (17) that covers the joint of the road bridge in between. At the same time, the asphalt pavement (A) is laid behind the erected face plates of the two expansion/contraction joints as a backfill for making an integral structure, at a thickness that almost equals the height of the erected face plates.
