PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal light modulator with a thin light reflection layer. SOLUTION: The modulator includes a semiconductor substrate (1) which has a transistor (2) and a control circuit, a light reflection layer (4), a front plate (9) having a transparent cover electrode (8) and a liquid crystal unit (7) buried between at least two pixel electrodes (6). Each pixel electrode (6) is connected to the transistor (2) through a contact hole (10). The hole (10) that crosses the layer (4) includes a thin insulation wall cover to electrically insulate the electrically conductive material from the layer (4) to the inside of the hole (10). Moreover, this invention proposes a manufacturing method of the modulator.
