PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To swiftly update firmware.SOLUTION: A storage section 11 stores a piece of information 11a on compatibility between different versions of a firmware which is used for controlling two redundant modules 21 and 22 within a storage system 20. When updating a piece of firmware of the modules 21 and 22 from a first version to a second version which has no compatibility with the first version, the operation section 12 refers to information 11a and applies a piece of firmware of a version later than a version which is currently applied to the other module and which has the compatibility with a piece of firmware of the version which is currently applied to the other module in the versions from the first version to the second version alternately one after the other.
