PURPOSE:To enable accurate measurement of temperature correcting emissivity of an object to be measured by detecting radiation energy from two shielding plates having different temperatures with a detector. CONSTITUTION:This apparatus is composed of a flange arranged facing the surface of an object 1 to be measured such as steel plate with the temperature Tm and the emissivity Em, shielding plates 21 and 22 with known temperatures of T1 and T2 having a central opening, detectors 31 and 32 such as radiation thermometer adapted to receive radiation energy from the opening of the shielding plates 21 and 22 to be converted into an electrical signal and an arithmetic unit 4 which determine the temperature Tm of the object 1 being measured by performing a specified computation from outputs of the detectors 31 and 32 and the temperatures T1 and T2 of the flange of the shielding plates 21 and 22. In other words, the emissivity of the object can be obtained from the radiation energy of the object 1 being measured and radiation energy equivalent to a black body of the shielding plates 21 and 22 thereby enabling the determination of the temperature Tm of the object 1 because the temperatures T1 and T2 are known. |
