PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization axis detector, polarization measurement device, polarization measurement method and polarization light irradiation device that can highly accurately detect a polarization axis of polarization light even when illuminance in light from a light source varies for each time.SOLUTION: A polarization axis detector comprises: a first polarization light detection unit 311 that has a detection polarizer 311a rotatable for detecting a polarization axis, and a first illuminance sensor 311b detecting illuminance information on polarization light passing through the detection polarizer 311a and from a light source; and a second polarization light detection unit 312 that has a second illuminance sensor 312a directly detecting illuminance information on polarization light from the light source, and is juxtaposed in the first polarization light detection unit 311. A polarization measurement device is configured to compute polarization characteristic of the polarization light from the light source on the basis of the illuminance information detected by the first polarization light detection unit 311 and the illuminance information detected by the second polarization light detection unit 312. |
